At Solway developing student health and wellbeing is paramount. We do this through explicit teaching of health and wellbeing concepts, programmes and approaches. Our approach to wellbeing is based on Te Whare Tapa Whā. The model describes health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls. These walls represent taha wairua/spiritual wellbeing, taha hinengaro/mental and emotional wellbeing, taha tinana/physical wellbeing and taha whānau/family and social wellbeing. Along with the whenua being the foundation of the whare. By working on each taha or side, we can help develop a positive wellbeing. |
